Where do you place a tonogodhime stack in the woods?

I'm setting up my first tonogodhime stack (freestanding 2x2 alternating layers) and I'm unsure where it should live. Any woodland placement tips? I have some deep shade, some partial canopy, and a windy edge. Also, does it really need direct ground contact?

Partial canopy is the sweet spot for me. Deep shade can stay too wet and slow, and the windy edge dries the bark out fast.

Direct ground contact matters mostly for stability and moisture buffering. When the base logs sit on soil, they settle and the stack stays put. If you lift it, it tends to dry weirdly and shift.

I like a spot that gets a little morning breeze but not full-on wind. Enough to keep the ends from staying slimy, not enough to bake them.
