I keep seeing people act like tonogodhime is some special method but it just looks like crib stacking with a
different name. Isn’t it the same thing?
They can look similar, but the intent is different. Tonogodhime is usually a consistent 2×2 alternating,
open-sided layout so you keep airflow through the stack and can access all sides for harvest. A lot of crib
stacks end up tighter and harder to work.
Harvest access is the big difference for me. With tonogodhime I can walk around the square and grab clusters
without pulling logs. My crib stacks always hid mushrooms in the middle/back.
Fair enough. I think I’ve been thinking of “any crossed stack” as crib. The access part makes sense.
