Beginner check: does this tonogodhime plan sound right?

I’m about to stack my first shiitake logs and I want to make sure I’m not inventing a new bad method. My plan:
Two logs side-by-side on the ground, then the next layer is two logs turned 90 degrees across them, and keep alternating layers to make a square “log cabin” stack. No posts, no wire.
Is that basically tonogodhime? Anything I’m missing?

Yep, that’s the idea. Only “gotchas” I see: pick a spot that drains, and keep leaf litter from burying the ends. Otherwise you’re on the right track.

Sounds right. Don’t be tempted to wedge sticks in as “supports” unless you have a real reason. The stack works best when it can settle into itself.
